I was downloading Christmas music last night. I have 9 million different incarnations of each carol. A whole bunch of Top-40 artists have their own versions of Christmas carols on their own Christmas albums.
I'm rather disappointed in Destiny's Child's Christmas compilation this year. I think their improvisations are just a little too loopy and overboard for me. The Boyz II Men version of Silent Night wasn't that great either.
*och* the Hanson brothers should NOT sing anything that requires them to pronounce real words in the English vocabulary.
There are a few new Christmas compilations that I like. I love Enya's from a few years ago. I love listening to Gaelic, even though I don't understand. I also like Mariah Carey's from a few years ago too - the one with "All I Want For Christmas Is You". *sigh* Bought and lost both of these...
And with apologies to aspiring young performers everywhere, I have decided for the moment that no matter how purposefully formed the wave pattern, soundwaves hitting my eardrums is a naturally occurring phenomenon and, as such, is not one for which I am willing to pay over $20 per hour. The exceptions to this are: A) if it's live, B) it's incredibly good (which I'm sure it will be) or C) the album is personalized and autographed by the artist.
This decision was made out of poverty, so once my financial situation improves (ie. I win that lottery jackpot), my attitudes will very likely change...
