Almost everyone liked the silver gown as an icon (it's a very well drawn dress for something of that resolution).

But given the Lumpy-Funny-Looking-Geek-In-A-Dress-Real-Life pics, most of the guys still like the silver gown. Most of the girls that originally liked the silver, changed their minds and chose the Qi Pao.

I'm very tempted to put a further wrinkle in this by getting an opinion on the wine red velvet dress I wore to my Senior Prom a zillion years ago...

Hey, nobody told me there was a red velvet option!

No, I didn't nominate it because I wear it to a lot formal events. It counts as a brand new dress if no one else attending the event has ever seen it =) It's my all-purpose back-up dress =)

It's a short above-the-knee one-piece. I put another pic in the other post, go have a look =)

You can't wear a dress if someone has already seen you wear it? That seems like an odd wardrobe logic. And you say it's your prom dress? How old are you anyway?

It's different with guys because a black suit is a black suit. But when a girl wears the same dress twice to different events, people notice.

I'm an ancient 27. =)

Oh you venerable old hag you... Sigh.

There's no doubt that women have a tough gig with regards to clothing. However, I think not being able to wear a dress twice is a bit extreme.

It's not that I absolutely _can't_. It's just that if it's the same kind of event with the same people, it'll trigger the memory that you wore the same outfit year after year after year.

Last November was the first time I thought about getting a new dress/outfit in 10 years. Prior to that, I had no other formal other than the red velvet dress. And that took care of all the rare super-formal-can't-get-away-with-slacks-and-nice-blouse occasions since Senior Prom. I had worn the red velvet dress to the company Year End party the year before and I thought that I deserved a new formal gown after 10 years.

My wedding gown is the only formal outfit I have that can't be worn to other events. It's just an extra bit of decision-making now that I have a few dresses left over from my wedding. =)

Think about motives in what people are saying....

The guys think you look hot in the silver dress...

The girls think you do too and want to make you less attractive to the guys by NOT being in the silver dress.

That's me, always looking for the conspiracy.

Well... yeah!
