The most incredible aspect of it is the casting. I can't think of a better casting job - EVER. It was nearly nearly perfect. I can't wait to see The Chamber of Secrets, The Prisoner of Azkaban and The Goblet of Fire.
The one part I would have cast differently was the part of Harry's Aunt Petunia. When I read the books, I imagine the woman who plays Victoria Singent in BBC's "Berkeley Square" - I think her name is Joanna David (Emilia Fox's mother, if that means anything to you). The reason I see her in the part is because of JKR's description of Aunt Petunia having a "long neck". Mrs. Singent had a superbly long goose neck for sure.
They had Fiona Shaw (the nerdy/bumbly Pileforth Headmistress from "3 Men and A Little Lady"). She was good too. Maybe a little too homely for what I imagined, but Fiona Shaw does "pompous-ass" really well =)
It was really nice to see some great actors and actresses: Maggie Smith (Reverend Mother in "Sister Act"), Richard Harris (the old Emperor Marcus Aurelius in "Gladiator"), Robbie Coltrane (Charlie McManus/Sister Euphemia, the fat nun, in "Nuns on the Run"!!!), Alan Rickman (Metatron in "Dogma"!).
But I think my Howler for this movie is:
HOW IS DAVID BRADLEY GOING TO BE ARGUS FILCH WHEN HE'S SUCH A PERFECT "MAD-EYE MOODY"?!?!?!?!
