I haven't had breakfast in YEARS, at least*. We went to DeDutch Pannekoek House in Richmond. I had BREAKFAST. Before noon. At an AM hour. Like, the Time of Day designation was less than 1200h - it was 1130h. On a weekend. You have no idea what a rare phenomenon that is for me.
It was also snowing buckets this morning. I think there was a whole half a foot... more in some places. And because of this, all the malls were pretty dead when on most weekends they're busting at the seams with people from noon onwards. Not only did we see empty parking spaces where they usually didn't exist, there were consecutive available parking spaces. I thought that would certainly cause a Black Hole to form, it's just that unfathomable.
We went by The Real Canadian Superstore (part of the supermarket chain owned by Loblaw's). I finally got a new pair of shoes!!! Another pair of nondescript, black leather heels. But, this time, no laces! *teeheehee* =) I am so tired of tying shoelaces. I'm tired of slipping on the shoes, trying to make it to the car without tripping, then tying the laces in the car, just so I won't have the whole country mad at me for being slow. They were $20 so I fully expect them to fall apart in a year or less, but in the meantime, I have shoes.
I also picked up "Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them" and "Quidditch Through the Ages". They were 44 cents each... what the hey.
We also went to Michaels. I came out with a bottle of pH neutral archival quality glue so I can make my postcards and a paper crafts book with some really cool ideas. I thought about turning latraviata loose on Michaels when she comes to Vancouver to visit, but then I realized that there are about 8 Michaels locations where she is... They had a big rubber stamps section and I was SO tempted to get border stamp for her. It's a 10" or 11" long stamp with nothing but a row of flowers or boxes or some kind of design that would look cool as a border. In the end, I couldn't decide among those or an acrylic stamp (the whole thing is see-through) or one of the zillions of other neato stamps.
We got home at around 1430h. We went outside with Grandpa to take some pictures in the snow for a while. It's been kind of a veg-fest since.
* Besides not being able to wake up before noon on weekends, I have a gag reaction to the smell of milk. Warmed up milk induces vomitting outright. I don't know why, but it's innate. I've always hated milk for as far back as I can remember (since I was 8 months old).
My parents forced me to drink a bowl of heated milk every morning when I was younger. We tried different flavouring, honey, almond, chocolate, nothing hid the milk enough.
This has caused me to not be able to eat breakfast. I was conditioned to throw up anything I eat before noon.
It's gotten much better over the years, but I'm still kinda wary of eating breakfast sometimes. Especially when I'm travelling or with friends - throwing up all over the table wouldn't make me very popular, I'd imagine.
