Olympic Pairs Figure Skating

Okay. Everyone and their Mother's Sister will be talking about What Happened Tonight I, What Happened Tonight II, What Happened III and What Happened: Episode One, The Prequel.

I don't think I need to rehash. Yes, I think we deserved it. But I know that the Olympic Games is nothing about who actually does the best anymore. It does not stand for integrity. It does not stand for good sportsmanship or fair play. And in that sense, I do not consider the Olympics a serious competition.

About the only thing I paid much attention to was the music. Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze used Jules Massenet's Meditation. My favorite rendition of Meditation is my little brother's. Maybe it's a slightly biased opinion (heh). My brother's unaccompanied solo swept me at the most important sequences and the held long notes moved me to tears in a way that neither Nigel Kennedy's nor Itzhak Perlman's does.

The other piece that got me was the Russian National Anthem. Damn! Russia has the nicest military uniforms and the best music. I'm looking around Morpheus right now for stuff =) I have one sung by the Russian Red Army Choir and it's INCREDIBLE.

i don't follow the olympics. what happened? is it with jamie sale and her partner because i just caught their interview and it was awkward.

i also saw the part with jeremy wotherspoon tripping at the start of the short speed skating comp. and he left the rink. i think he should've completed the race even though he had a slow start (ok, basically , he lost that round). but finish the race damn it!

Actually, I understand their position to not take away the Gold Medal from the Russians. I appreciate what a gimongous diplomatic fooferah that would be.

In my perfect world, Canada would _also_ be awarded the Gold medal - so there would be Gold, Gold and Bronze, no Silver.

But I would be happy to see the official acknowledgement of What Should Have Been.
