Speaking of McDonald's

[weather|sunny & cold][water|5 by 1639h]
[mood|okay]

But first, a side rant: IT'S DAMNED FREEZING HERE!! It was -1° yesterday! It's a little warmer today, but HELLO, it's supposed to be SPRING.

Anyway, we were talking about McDonald's training programs over in Karma's journal.

This made me think of the McDonald's Western Canada Regional headquarters in Burnaby, BC - on Still Creek Drive, off Willingdon and Canada Way. My Mom, Dad, little Bro and I used to love going out there because the building is beautiful.

That's what I was thinking. I could roll my eyes at people and shake my head at their "little proletarian orders for java." How passé!

Customer: "Hi, I would like a mocha cappuccino with whipped cream."

Me: "With whipped cream? You want me to put whipped cream in your mocha cappuccino?"

Customer: "Well yeah, it's for my little girl."

Me: "Your little girl? You're going to give a mocha cappuccino to your little girl. Sir, I ground these beans myself. They come directly from independent coffee growers in Chile. Farmers risk their lives, carrying these beans over the Andes, through communist guerilla controlled passes. And you want me to put whipped cream on it for your little girl!"

Customer: "Oh... I, I didn't know."

Me: "Well isn't that obvious. Why don't you take kiddy time across the street to Dairy Queen. Next!"

I would be perfect for the job.

Um, it's Vancouver... Where I come from in Alberta it's still winter. A couple feet of snow on the ground and still around -23 at night. It's still winter.

Okay, so that didn't stop me from complaining to my mother, when she called from out there in Central Alberta, that we were going to have to wait to plant some of our garden because it was still frosty out in the mornings.
