It's the "Papageno/Papagena Duet" from Mozart's The Magic Flute. =)

I'll have to come up with something harder next time =)

Re: Beautiful song
Heh, nope =)

I guess it's harder without the music and context, but it's a famous opera by a very famous composer.

I tried to get the rhythm exactly with the punctuation. The '.' is a long pause, the ',' is a shorter pause and the '-' means "sing faster"...

*grins*

I didn't realize this was some sort of contest. :P But w00t.

And yeah, I love Mozart.

I only knew the answer because I've seen 'Amadeus' a whole bunch of times and I think the Papageno part is hilarious. I love the Magic Flute though.

Re:
Mozart's weird. I love his music, but from everything I've heard about him, he sounds like a really selfish, stuck-up brat with a nerve-gratingly annoying laugh. I don't think I'd like being around him. =P

Oh yeah, I totally agree.

Have you seen 'Amadeus'? Because I swear, that irritating giggle was enough to drive anyone insane. Although I don't know if the real Mozart was that annoying. Or worse.

Still, gotta love his music.

Re:
Yup, I've seen it a few times here and there - I think F. Murray Abraham is amazing.

Tom Hulce is the guy who plays Mozart and that laugh is exactly the laugh I'm talking about =D I wouldn't be surprised at all if the real W. A. were worse.

F. Murray Abraham plays Salieri (sp???? :P), right?

I wouldn't really want to find out whether or not the real Mozart was worse. :P

And yay, postie! :P

"Bel Canto" isn't really right, since the opera's in Italian...but whatever; I don't speak German, so I can't come up with a better title.

Also, I have to say that my favourite part of Die Zauberflote is now the Overture. But when I was a kid, I wanted to be Papageno.

Re:
I thought the opera was German, not Italian... I don't speak either, I only know Italian specific to reading sheet music. And since I haven't done that in ages, the poco of Italian I know has gone sideways as well =)

But 'bel canto' just refers to the voice technique used.

B'oh. I meant to say that the opera was in German and not Italian. That's what I get for posting LJ comments at 4 in the morning, I guess...

Heh, 4am conversations and drunk conversations are great that way =)

My favorite is The Queen of the Night Aria. It sounds murderously amazing.
