weather: sunny
outside: 24°C
mood: okay

Interesting: Sesame Street to introduce HIV-positive Muppet.

Funny: Really honest lawyers.

Nerdy: The Secret Lives of Numbers. Warning: don't leave this website up in IE if you're not viewing it. Depending on your system resources, it does strange things to your monitor.

Just peachy-keen: "avva added support for users being able to now screen comments..." I've set my journal to Screen All comments just to see what it's like. I don't see myself using this much because there's not much point for me. I like the free-flowing comments. It may be useful if someone is posting nasty comments anonymously...

[Update - 1705h]

Okay, the Comment Screening doesn't work the way I thought. I thought "screening" meant it would implement something like a Moderator thing for comments - people add comments, I view them and either allow or disallow the posting.

It looks like if a comment is "screened", only the owner of the journal can click on the link to see the hidden comment. Everyone else sees "(Screened Post)", but doesn't get the link. This means that everyone can tell that there's a comment, but the owner has to go and "unscreen" each comment individually before anyone can see the content of it.

Personally, I think that if a comment is screened, there shouldn't be any trace that there's anything there. Then when the owner either unscreens to let everyone see it or delete it and no one's the wiser. This makes a true "approval process".
