Software Release Craziness

[weather|rainy]
[mood|cheerful]

Yesterday was one hella day. Due to Really Bad Timing Juju, I somehow wound up having to do two sofware releases for different projects simultaneously. I somehow managed to get all the paperwork done while doing a full regression pass, fixing a loopy test harness, sending issues back to development for patching while building the other project's release package while... =P I just don't want to do that ever again.

Now, I have 2 weeks until one of my projects goes Gold. Ya-freaking-hoo.

Merry Christmas to me!

I received latraviata's package the other day (I meant to write about it yesterday, but got buried).

Holy doodles! THANK YOU latraviata!!!! I got a zillion pressed pennies and three pressed quarters, a lapel pin and a post card.

And she just pointed me at the zhongwen community =) Heehee! =)

Harry Potter-ness

Finished The Philosopher's Stone. I enjoyed that very much. On to The Chamber of Secrets.

I also saw a commentary from someone on a mailing list I belong to. She was talking about all the behavioural inconsistencies of the adults (both in the movie and the book). "What message does that give kids when they do not punish X?"; "They should not have punished Y-behaviour so severely. That's so inconsistent."; etc. etc.

All I can say is perception is the key. Adults can seem inconsistent to a child. Children will sometimes think they're being treated severely when, to any other adult, the punishment really isn't that bad. Sometimes children will think they're really in trouble this time and all they get is the proverbial slap on the wrist.

And the Wacky Bible-based Religious Extremists accusing J.K. Rowling of promoting Witchcraft and Satanism can shovel it.

Ack! Wormie Things!

[weather|rainy]
[mood|grrrr]

We saw little lice-like things crawling around on Guai-Guai tonight. No one has any idea where they could have come from. I know he's been obsessively scratching and grooming a lot for a long time, but no one else seemed to be worrying about it, so I didn't worry about it either. I thought, maybe, that's what birds are supposed to do all day.

We got sand from the beach to line the bottom of his cage. It was rinsed with cold water, but I'm thinking there could still be germs.

He's never been outside. He only eats what we give him. I've never seen that kind of insect in the house before. None of us have lice.
