Hugo Alfven's Swedish Rhapsody

[mood|annoyed][music|  Kiri Te Kanawa - Mozart's Die Zauberflote: Ach, Ich Fuhl]

Okay, WHY can't I find a decent version of Swedish Rhapsody? Why does every single version out there remind me of toe-nail clipping, cousin dating and banjo picking on the front porch of a hillbilly hick-town? I've played this with an orchestra and I remember it sounding very very "elegant European countryside".

I may break down and buy a CD... *gasp* paying money for the natural phenomenon of soundwaves hitting my eardrums... what am I thinking?

Moulin Rouge

I know "Moulin Rouge" got top ratings, but that has got to be the worst movie I have ever seen. I hated it. The costumes were neat and Ewan McGregor has a semi-decent singing voice, but that's it. I hated the rest of it. It's totally not my cuppa. I'm so very glad I missed it in the theatres. I was beginning to like Nicole Kidman a bit, but nope... >K{ ...can't stand her face either.
