Temperatures and Referenda

weather: sunny
outside: 1°C
mood: cold

<insert whine about how cold it is in Vancouver>

<prepare for barrage of comments telling me that I don't know the meaning of the word "cold" until I've spent a winter in Calgary/Winnipeg/Ontario/Siberia/etc.>

So, it looks like we are going to have a referendum plebiscite on whether or not we want the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler, BC. I just read this morning that they're promising to make this question clear and concise. HA! Fat chance.

The referendum question should be as follows:

[ ] Yes           [ ] No

weather: sunny
outside: 9°C
mood: blah

Why didn't we get a power outage like the rest of Downtown Vancouver? I needed it today.

A co-worker was telling me that traffic lights were dead while he was driving in to work. He went around to everyone telling them to SAVE OFTEN TODAY, especially D who gets so melodramatically distraught - loud moaning/wailing while running around the floor with his hands clutching his head.

We used to get power outages here. We had several brown-outs, all three of them on Thursday afternoons. They were beginning to become our Regular Thursday Afternoons Off.

[Update - 1729h]

There's a reason I don't complain about being bored. In the last hour, Husband Guy developed a tummy ache from his lunch at Milestones so I had to drive him home. Weiner Application crashed while in the midst of running a script... stupid Microsoft.

All is taken care of now. Husband Guy is home and Malox'ed up (I hope, I dunno, I just dropped him off at the door and came back to work). Script has been given a sharp kick in the head and re-run... seems okay now...

I saw a Hummer on the way back. It was LiquiShit Yellow. Who orders cars in that colour?

My Pi2Qiu1

weather: clear
outside: 4°C
mood: talkative

I'm... busy... yeah. This is what happens when work thinks it drops me big huge things to do. I script them and then go yakking on LJ XD

MIL Woman is back from Taiwan. Among the stuff she brought back for me was a jade 貔貅 (pi2qiu1) charm. It's NOT a "rubber ball" like I know some of you are thinking =D It's kinda like a Kirin - a mythical creature that looks like some kid put a zoo animal back together wrong. The concept is similar to a Hippogriff, head of a w, body of an x, legs of a y, tail of a z, etc.

I've always wanted to get a jade charm of some kind. But I didn't know what to get. I know you're not supposed to get your own zodiac animal because there are different energies in your aura every year and you need the aura of a different animal. It's not good to have the wrong animal near you.

So, I was happy that someone who knew about these things got me something that I could keep on me. I had to consecrate the 貔貅 with Yin Yang water. Run it under cold tap water, then under the boiled water from the hot water boiler/container we have. No one else is supposed to touch it now. If anyone else does touch it, I have to consecrate it again.
