Cactus

weather: sunny
outside: 20°C
mood: okay

Today is, co-worker, A's last day. He was a developer on the PDF project and the QXP project with me. He did some great work. His girlfriend is moving back to Montréal to do her Mechanical Engineering degree, so he's going with her. He's going to be a mooch/bum for a while.

Anyway, I have inherited one of his cactus plants. It's just a little thing about the size of a golf ball. He had two and he gave the other one to another person.

So, now I think I should name it to give it a better chance at survival... knowing my black thumb and all. Suggestions?

[Update - 1439h]

Suggestions:

  • Neville (suggested by: ntang) - in Harry Potter-lore, Neville Longbottom was a round, pudgie boy and kinda "green". A golf ball can't help but be round and pudgie.

  • Hedgewig (suggested by: aliasa) - I know it's "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", but "Hedgewig" subtley alludes to the fact that it's a plant... it might be lame, but hey...

More choices, people! More choices =)

Neville. Neville the cactus. Or "Neville, the golfball-sized cactus" the cactus.

And how do you know it's a boy? Are all cacti boys?

Re:
Well, they've got pointy things sticking out of 'em.

...

I'd assume that scientifically they'd be both, as they're flowering plants.

I think Neville's good. It's the kind of name that you don't really want to have, which might thus make you prickly.

Lol. I was going to suggest a Harry Potter character type name but the first thought that popped in my head was:

"Hedgewig."

Hmmm... Google says it's "Hedwig and the Angry Inch". But "Hedgewig" would kinda work too =)

I wanted to get a few more choices though. I think I'm going to post a picture for inspiration because it has some pretty interesting colouring in the needles, it looks quite punky =)

It's Hedwig. Good movie. My thoughts: Neville.

Hedwig movie
Bride has the title right. And hey, remind me before dinner Wed. and I'll bring my DVD for you to borrow/watch. A good movie, very off, but if you like offbeat movies like "Snatch" and "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" you'll like this. Oh, or "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert", but that just may be because of the Abba. ;)
