I could also go out to the Burnaby Public Library, Metrotown branch which has free parking and is very nice too. The Burnaby one is close to the mall with a Chapters =D if I decide to buy the books I want instead. There's Internet access for sure at the Burnaby branch >K} although there must be a lab at the Main one as well, I've just never used it.
Things I want to do at the library:
<input ... > read Women, Fire, and Dangerous Things: What Categories Reveal About the Mind. This book came very highly recommended, but I haven't had the chance to read it yet.
<input ... > read Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China.
<input ... > read Memories of Madame Sun. Ching-Ling Soong, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen's wife. She was one of the three Soong Sisters, Ai-Ling ("eye"), Ching-Ling, and Mei-Ling ("may"). They were the most powerful women of their day, educated at Wesleyan College in Georgia. Ai-Ling (the oldest) was the wife of H. H. Kung, a powerful businessman and later, Finance Minister to Chiang Kai-Shek. Mei-Ling (the youngest) was the wife of Chiang Kai-Shek himself... I think Mei-Ling is still alive, clocking in at 105 years old this year.
<input ... > borrow Opera and Classical music CDs. Let's see if I can make my hard drive or speakers explode with World Class Tenors =)
<input ... > I hear the library has old movie DVDs now, so I'll have to see what they have. The one I have in mind is Casa Blanca. No, I haven't seen this yet. Yes, I'm culturally deprived... shut up, all of you. =)
<input ... > read the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I still haven't read these books. Cultural Osmosis has done me well, but I asked for the 6 volume set for my wedding and I got it, so I should go read the real thing. But then I also got The Complete Guide to Middle-Earth, so I may just get the buzz through that. Although, thinking about this a bit more, it might be a tougher read than the LOTR text. I had a peep last night and it's set up like an index.
So, "Aoufhaewoirya" is the name of a small pair of shears that Elrond used to clip his nose hair by his reflection in Doomerhaeioussenir, this Little Enchanted Puddle of Mordor (it magnifies if you flip it over), while regretting not tossing Isildur into the lava personally, on the way back from the southern hillsides of Mount Doom after Isildur hacked off Sauron's middle finger completely by fluke.
I care. Really, I do.
I don't want to just end up sleeping my entire holidays away, then feel like a total schmoe for not doing anything when I get super busy with work next year.
*sigh* I plan a trip to the library in more detail than other people plan their honeymoon... =P
