One of the guys, D, was an interesting character. He looks and acts a lot like Drew Carey =) He's one of the new artists and he was very passionate about things in a funny way. He made a comment about loving Smirnoff Ice and I threw out, "what a waste of Vodka..." And we all laughed at him about being a pansy and "drinking lemonade". Laughed more about pansy drinks with little umbrellas and fruit stuck on the glass.
D also showed off his Cantonese vocabulary to me, mostly his swearing repertoire. I skooled him a few more =) And katie_ah, "ai-fucking-ya" came up! Everyone LOVED that, we laughed for a great long time on it =D
Somehow, people look at me a bit apprehensively when swear words come up (do I really give a Prim & Proper Vibe?). It's always a shocker to people that I have no problem with swearing and that I'll swear right along for effect once in a while. And yeah, I did also get the mild surprise that I'm a Software Engineer. *shrug* I like defying stereotypes =)
We had a great time talking to everyone. We had a really lively bunch last night. Some we didn't get a chance to talk to as much, but we did try. Husband Guy's boss was wearing a suit. He never dresses up, but he looks really spiffy in a dark suit. The only other time I've seen him dress up was at my wedding(!!!) =D We kept trying to survey his reaction to the bill, but he kept a poker face, until he saw us staring and whispering. Then he comes over and we yak with him for a while. =)
We were given a choice of a Caesar salad or a Seafood Chowder and steak, chicken or seafood dinners. We both go a really garlicky Caesar salad and the 8oz steak. Dinner was very good, but the little red potatos were fantastic. I don't know what it was, I'm not sure if it was just really fresh potatos or whatever they did to it, but I've never had such great potatos =) I heard one other person comment on them, so it's not like the chef fluked on my plate.
We all finished with a Cappuccino Cheesecake. It tasted more like a mousse than the New York style cheesecake that I'm used to, but it was very good too.
