Haircut

weather: cloudy
outside: 5°C
mood: a little wistful
This was my hair.

Was... ... ... Was. =)

I finally got it cut after talking about it for - what? - a year? I'm now sporting a J. K. Rowling Do - exactly that picture, except my hair is darkdarkdark brown. That was the first thing that came to my mind when the Hairdresser Lady proclaimed she was done.

"It's J.K. Rowling's hair! Except shorter!"

It's slightly layered, but not much. It's meant to be foofy, but I should be able to wear it flat. It's also still long enough that I can pull it back into a ponytail. I didn't get it coloured or permed. I mainly wanted to try a little bit of layering.

Hairdresser Lady also saved almost two feet of my original hair tied up in a blue elastic. =)

In two years, it'll be long again. =)

You're kidding right?
You have just the right amount of big versus baggy ratio!
Perfection!

My hair's kinda like that too ^_^ But it's about 2 inches below my shoulders. I bet you look great! ^_^

And as that picture of your long hair was loading I suddently thought "Ah! Sadako/Samara!" I'm still traumatized by The Ring -_-;;

WOW! Gorgeous hair, I bet it looks stunning now!
That's a really big step, it must be so much lighter now.

Heh, yup. A LOT lighter.

I nearly broke my neck swinging my non-existent hair back. Nearly twisted my wrist trying to flick the heavy mass of hair out from under the neckline of my coat =D

Watch out when you go swimming
When I was a teen, I got my first dramatic haircut and made my hair about half the length it had been. I didn't really feel the difference so much until I went swimming.

You know how your hair gets wet and weighs a ton? Well, you have to brace against the edge of the pool to counterbalance when you get out, right?

I counterbalanced for the old hair and flew forward and nearly cracked my head on the cement...

Wow, I can't grow my hair that long. :-( Are you going to donate your hair to the charity that makes wigs for children with cancer?

I'm going to try to find the woman in Chinatown that buys hair and see how much she pays for it.

Awwwwww
You cut your hair. Why'd you go and do that? It was pretty hair. And I kinda liked being Hair Twins!

My fiance says (jokingly) that you're a punk for deserting the ranks of the long-haired ones. :)

That said, I'm sure it looks pretty now. :)

Oh hush, you two. =) It's not like I've taken a long walk into the Cursed Earth or something. I'll be back among the ranks of the long-haired in a year and a half to two years again =)

Re: Awwwwww
I envy the fast-growing hair that many Asians seem to have. I'm lucky if my hair grows 2 inches in a year.

Bah. Humbug. :)

Also the fiance wants to know what the meaning of the word "hush" is. It's certainly not a word he'd be familiar with (he's extremely outspoken). :)

Wow, so it took you most of your life to grow your hair out... Yeah, if it took me that long, I wouldn't cut it either =)

Hey, the fiancé needs to get an LJ and ask his own questions =) No asking vicariously through your wife's LJ! =D j/k

"hush" is a gentler, less abrasive way of saying "shut up" or "be quiet". Like the lullaby:

Hush, little baby, don't say a word,
Papa's going to buy you a mockingbird.

If that mockingbird don't sing,
Papa's going to buy you a diamond ring.

If that diamond ring turns brass,
Papa's going to buy you a looking glass.

If that looking glass gets broke,
Papa's going to buy you a billy goat.

If that billy goat won't pull,
Papa's going to buy you a cart and bull.

If that cart and bull turn over,
Papa's going to buy you a dog named Rover.

If that dog named Rover won't bark,
Papa's going to buy you a horse and cart.

If that horse and cart fall down,
You'll still be the sweetest little baby in town.

Re: Awwwwww
In my defense, I gave him a LJ code. He's just being a stinker and not using it. :)

And yes, it has taken me a fair bit of my life to grow it this long. I think I started growing it in 4th grade. I'm now in 16th grade. :)

Cute ;=Þ
It does *smile* Wow, you’re hair is long! I remember when my mom cut hers; it wasn’t as long but she cut it really short. It took some getting used to but now I can hardly remember it long. It’s so like you to think of a J.K. Rowling reference! Haha. ;-Þ

Re:
Nope, actually, my hair is much easier at 29" than my new JKR hair =)

There was no shape, no style to the long hair. I just pushed it back with a comb and took off in the morning. I could part it on the left or right or down the middle or however it happened to fall.

I have to spend time styling it now otherwise I look like a mental hospital escapee every morning. At least half an hour to one hour.
