Use a Better Browser

This is aimed at everyone who's still using IE*. It's late, I'll explain some other time. But, you can read Josh Segall's explanation in the meantime. Click here: click here for better browsing

I highly recommend everyone try Mozilla or Firebird at the very least. "But you don't have to take MY word for it." — LeVar Burton

Eeeh, I'm using MSN which I think is basically IE and I can't say I'm thrilled about it. It's *OK* but not great, and in some areas is worse than AOhelL. My mom recently revealed that we saved $80 on our new TV by signing our lives away for another miserable year with crappy Internet up for MSN. Hopefully we'll get high speed internet soon.

What's the difference between cable and DSL?

using MSN

Is that dial-up? Dialing up just gets you the connection, you can then use any application that works with that connection, like any browser application, any LJ client, an FTP client, AIM instant messenger, etc.

You just launch Mozilla/Firebird instead of IE.

What's the difference between cable and DSL?

Cable internet access goes through a digital cable line and DSL uses the phone line infrastructure you already have (plus some modifications). Both will require special modems and/or routers. Both give you similar connection speeds. DSL gives you a consistent connection speed whereas Cable speed depends on how many other users are logged in, in your branch/trunk/section or whatever it's called.

Neither is better than the other. Both have their problems.

Thanks for the info.

I had Mozilla (per your recommendation) for awhile and it was OK. But my computer's pretty mucked up as it is and everything I download makes it go slower and slower. I'm afraid that downloading a new server would only slow things down, and not be worth it. If I had a better computer I'd use Opera.
