In Auto-Pilot

I left work at almost 2:00am last night. I had to merge source code that my client sent very late in the day. They usually upload it to us in the evening, so I can merge in the morning. But yesterday, they gave it to me in the afternoon.

Knowing I had a dentist appointment this morning meant that I needed to finish merging last night before I left. </a></b></a> said he had to burn a Gold Master Candidate release onto CD anyway, so we were both going to be late.

I finish my merge at a reasonable 8:00pm (or was it 9:00pm... I can't remember now). He's still not done. He's working on a Mac and, basically, everything that could have gone wrong, DID.

rm -rf * wouldn't force delete one of their trees. That set them back about a hour to figure out that Macs have an extra "lock" attribute that you have to unset before you can rm -rf *... which makes total sense, but when you just plain didn't know that, you're completely baffled as to why a simple *NIX/FreeBSD thing IS NOT WORKING.

And that was a relatively minor setback. Of course, they had to run into the obligatory Development Environment Not Supported On Panthwire (*knee-slap* HAHA, take that Steve Jobs!) Problem. That took a billion years of finaggling.

And then the burn fails, so they had to start over.

We were home by about 2:30am or so. I was pretty out of it in the car on the way. But wouldn't you know it, I WOKE THE FUCK UP once I got home. I didn't get to sleep until 6:00am. We got up at 9:00am so that I could drop him off at work for a late 10:00am start before I bumbled my way to my dentist.

*whimper*
