As far as Work goes, I will be moving into an office by the end of this week. A co-worker recently left for an opportunity elsewhere, so that left an office open. I put in a bid and lo, it's mine.
I had debated it for quite a while whether or not I want an office. I like the open space that I have now. I like having air and natural light. Right now, I'm next to a large window and a large ledge where I have my yoga mat laid out. I've used it before, but very rarely and only for a few quick cross-legged stretches. I'm not doing a Downward Dog (a.k.a. Upward Ass) on an elevated platform in front of a roomful of co-workers.
I tried to take naps on it in the evenings, but the window is not well insulated, even though it's double-paned. There's a really cold draft and it's pretty pointless. I don't use it much anymore, but looking at it and looking out the window makes me feel better.
But the huge advantage of having an office is the privacy. I may possibly be able to play my music on my speakers instead of my earphones. And, more importantly, I'd be able to talk on the phone. I can't talk on the phone right now without blaring at everyone else. That sucks for the times I want to talk to my Financial Advisor... and, not to mention the embarrassment when </a></b></a> goads me into saying, "I love you" rather loudly ("I said 'I looooove you'... louder... I can't hear you... why aren't you saying it? ... do you hate me?"). I'll get him back soon enough =D
It's going to be an inner corner office... on the corner of a fairly busy and noisy corridor, so I'm not sure how distractive it will be. The outer offices (with windows) are taken by folks with higher senority than I. =) Although, the window offices are quite a bit smaller.
Oh. I just had a thought. If I don't have a window, I have no idea what'll happen to Neville (HOLY MOSES, THE LITTLE GUY HAS GROWN!!). I may have to give him to someone with a window. =C Nooo... *sniff*
