Kill Bill Icon

weather: sunny

OkayokayokayokayokayokayokayOKAY.

Apparently, I am required by order of the UN International Tribunal to have an icon depicting Beatrix Kiddo in Kill Bill. =) Enough people have chided me about this that I'll do it =D =D

I was scouring the internet looking for an image of her in the katana presentation ceremony with Hattori Hanzo, but I couldn't find one. If anyone wants to find it or make me a still, the picture in my mind is a three-quarter angle facing Uma Thurman in the white ceremonial garb and her upper body slightly bowed, receiving her katana... that could be my imagination making things up though. (See below.)

I only have one icon slot left so, which one will it be?

  • #1 —

  • #2 —

  • #3 —

  • #4 —

  • #5 —

*sigh* I can't get the images to show up correctly when I put the paths into the Poll Creator and it won't let me edit. So, comments will have to do...

[Update]

Thanks to fianna, I have #4 and #5 to choose from. My imagination made up the three-quarter angle. Uma Thurman also looked prettier, less stiff and more at ease holding a katana in my mind.

Random Notes:

  • I didn't really care for Kill Bill Volume 1, I haven't seen Volume 2 yet. I like that one scene, but the rest of it wasn't much.
  • I've always thought Uma Thurman would make a great Narcissa Malfoy. She's tall, slender and just very "Lady Malfoy". But, also, she has that perfect look that fits the description of "looking as though she had a nasty smell under her nose" so well.
  • I'll probably rotate between icons #1-4 every once in a while.

You know, that makes no sense at all since I didn't do anything to change them ;-)

I think I remember you earlier saying you were forwarding livejournal comments to a gmail account? If that is the case the way my husband has things set up he's blocking everything but livejournal and no referrer traffic so if you clicked the link in your e-mail it may have made it not work. At least he didn't put up the goatse picture anymore for all people who hit my images that way ;-)

Heya, would it be possible for me to see his mod_rewrite rules for this?

I'm tightening up a few things and I wanted to get some idears =)

I've appended my rules for my apache v1 config. A few notes:

* I need to port this to my apache2 server. (I knew I forgot to move something over...)

* The rewrite conditions are just regex over the referrer field. You can do this over most (all?) properties of the request, which is pretty neat.

* My regex are "weak" -- if someone created a site called livejournal.com.annoyingreferrer.net, the images would load. I really should anchor the right side with "$" to prevent this.

* NC means "no case" (case insensitive)

* F means "forbidden" (403)

* So my rules more or less translate into:

if referrer is not empty
AND tolower(referrer) does not contain livejournal.com
AND tolower(referrer) does not contain ruffledpenguin.org
AND tolower(referrer) does not contain rivendell.yi.org
AND tolower(referrer) does not contain phoenix.joylandpark.org
then match any (.*) url and return forbidden.

* Docs: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_rewrite.html#RewriteCond

[Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('<ifmodule mod_rewrite.c>') in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.]

Obviously you can do more dreadful things if you were so inclined :p

Hope that helps,

Hey Adam =)

That's essentially what I'm doing right now too, except I explictly have everything between '^' and '$' because I'm all anal like that =) I block a pile of bots as well.

Thanks =)
