Happy New Year!!

weather: cloudy
outside: 0°C
mood: happy
I'm on the West Coast. We get around to everything later than everyone else.

My New Year's Resolution: 1920x1440.

But it's not likely achievable this year. =)

I was going to do that "2004 Year In Review" survey, but I had nothing to say for anything except My Failures... for which I had a big huge long list and I couldn't stop elaborating. So, I saved it elsewhere and decided it would be better to just keep my mouth shut.

Hee. I've used that joke before too. On this laptop, it's 1680x1050. Which is pretty decent. =)

Ooo, what model do you have again? I think my next machine will be a wireless enabled laptop.

Dell Inspiron 8600; in spite of its size, it's not that heavy, only 7.3 lbs. (Before I had an IBM ThinkPad and while those are WONDERFUL desktop replacement machines, they're quite densely packed and heavy; not that ThinkPad in the future will be what it was.) I just went to the Dell site and saw they had a new Inspiron 9200, 17"(!) widescreen and integrated subwoofer (O_o), and only 7.71 lbs.

Nice =) My brother-in-law just got an Inspiron 600m.

Re: 9200... a subwoofer? On a laptop? Yeah, O_o just about sums it up. XD

compscilin has a 600m, it's quite nice.

I suppose with a frame that holds a 17" LCD, they had a lot of empty space in the lower half of the case... "Hey, what can we do with this space? How about putting in a tiny subwoofer to go with the tiny speakers?"

Yeah, as sertrel said, my 600m is quite nice.

I've seen a few others around; they're fairly popular. It's fairly light at just under or around 5 pounds. The screen is a little on the smaller side at 14.1". The Pentium M's SpeedStep is neat, makes it run cooler and quieter, with less fan noise.

Speakers have no bass; the 8600's do.

Gelukkig nieuw jaar! (Happy new year).

"1920x1440"
I do hope that's not on a 14" screen. ^^

seriously though, even with 21" you're going to need a magnifying glass to read anything.

I have a 19" at 1600x1200 right now and I like it =) I like having lots of desktop real estate =)

Ok, I like to use 1600x1200 as well, especially at work, as it allows me to have a lot of code visible. but from 1600 to 1920 is a 20% increase, that's a lot.

If it's any comfort, my laptop won't let me go above 1280x1024 on the external screen (the panel-screen itself is broken).

Bummer. You might try with the external screen though, I've seen a few laptops which have a larger external setting than internal (mine's one), not many though.

Hmmm...
The first has a 20" CRT screen with a max of 2048x1536.
The second has a whopping 23.1" TFT screen with a max of 1600x1200.

Still, I want!
