Starting Off The New Year

weather: sunny
outside: 2°C
mood: groggy/disoriented
Before I begin my random bibbling, I'd like to say: in light of tsunami donation scams, please donate to reputable aid/relief organizations only. And Canadians: your donation to listed eligible Canadian charities (under "How you can help") from now until January 11, will be matched by the Government of Canada. Also, any donation you make from now until January 11 will be eligible for income tax purposes for 2004. The Lower Mainland Buddhist Society is selling one of their buildings (valued at $500,000), all to be donated to the relief effort. I really hope they get it sold by January 11.

So, yeah. Me then.

*ungh* I don't care what the calendar or clock says. It's Monday. Morning. Still. And will be, all week.

I'm glad yesterday WAS actually still a stat. holiday for me. =O I wasn't sure. I hoped I didn't have to go back to work yesterday when I woke up. I was actually conscious enough to call my Office Manager Lady's extension just to be sure. I called ONCE while I was still laying in bed. It went to her voice mail and I hung up hoping that she wasn't just away from her phone or something. =)

I have jetlag and I didn't even go anywhere or do much of anything over the holidays. I've been hibernating so much. No more sleeping in until 1300h and no napping every afternoon/evening.

Every year, I always go to our annual 0600h Boxing Day mall not-shopping thing and, every year, I always wonder why I do it. I don't buy anything. I just wander around with the guys, who also don't buy much and are just wandering around as well. I did have something I wanted to get, but I didn't find it. I think this is how I prove my existence every year.

My anti-virus software went bonkers for a few minutes trying to catch up with the crap lode of updates this morning. I got kicked out of work December 20 last year, see. It was for my own good.

My credit card balance is still comfortably under $1000.00 and most of it was regular recurring auto-payment charges, like our parking payment. I'm EVER SO impressed with myself. =D But I'll give it a week or two to see if stuff gets posted that I've forgotten about. All the Giftmas stuff is there, though. And most of the Holiday Fooding Sprees are there in my online statement thingie. I think.

All the stuff I took home with me from work for the holidays is (*bleh*) still at home, the most important of which is my hand lotion. But it's not all bad. I'm running on a small sample tube and I'm thankful that I had the foresight to leave my water bottle behind at work.

MUSTMUSTMUST remember to write and type '2005' everywhere now. Heh. =)

Stuff I need to do because I'm a loser and didn't get it done when I had time off:

<input ... >  renew mortgage... talking to Mortgage Lady...
<input ... >  get passport application done (at least the photos are taken).
<input ... >  see my doc for a long overdue check-up... Appointment made. Note to self: Try giving her puppy-dog eyes and say that I was waiting for her to come back from Mat. Leave so that she might not be too mad at me for being a dumbass.
<input ... >  see my Financial Advisor about topping up my RRSP for 2004. We do this in January before he gets swamped with RRSP season. Appointment made.
