I wound up taking over two hours for lunch (and not even having an actual lunch) today because traffic was a Holy Stuffed Pig as I inched my way from downtown Vancouver to Dentist Man's office. Today was his last day before he went on holidays for two weeks and I needed his autograph on my Canadian passport application.
That meant that I had to stay a little later than usual to get Work done. When I was done, I called Husband Guy to see if he would be ready to carpool home with me so I wouldn't have to come back and pick him up later. He wasn't quite done, but he would be soon, so I went over to Pacific Centre mall to hang out. I thought I'd just get a snack and sit in the food court.
A black guy comes up to my table. He's alone. He doesn't sit down, but he leans over onto the table from the seat across from me.
"Hi, I just came over to tell you that I think you're the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life."
*blink* *blink* I think my face was being confused and trying to smile at the same time. I hope I said "thank you" loud enough...
He continues, "Um, I saw the ring, so... uh... yeah... I just felt the need to let you know. That's all..."
He smiles, I smile back. He turned and walked away.
Whether I was the subject of a dare, someone's Overcoming Shyness 101 homework, or his head was really smoked up on something good, doesn't matter. That was kinda cool =)
