New Abode

weather: mostly cloudy
outside: 8.1°C
mood: tired
We're mostly moved in. My Mother-in-Law, userinfoHusband Guy and I are still living together. My Brother-in-Law has moved into his new condo.

I really like this apartment. It's 1200sqft which is not very big, but a decent size for the three of us and our two birds. I think I will be MUCH happier with the cost of upkeep and lack of expenses.

There is still a metric butt tonne of unpacking to do. There are still things here and there that need buying and installing. A lot of things will have to go into storage, but the pieces that are in here, are fitting really nicely.

We need towel bars; this bathroom had two ugly double towel hooks that can take up to four towels. We have a new shower curtain and shower head, but still need a shower caddy. I want a Swiffer® SweeperVac®. This thing looks AMAZING for hardwood floors.

Because we only have one bathroom that guests also have to use, I've done something that I've always wanted to. I have a deep rich wine red hand towel and I'm going to get the word "Guest" embroidered on it in goldenrod coloured thread. Something like this:

Whenever I use the washroom at someone else's house/apartment, I have nowhere to dry my hands after I wash them. I don't want to use their towels, just like I'd be embarrassed for other people to be touching my towel. I end up drying my hands with as small an area of the corner as possible... but *bleh* >K{

I love these Wire Cube customizable shelving units. I've gotten one set of three cubes before and made it into a four cube vertical shelf by not putting the backs on them. We're now using it in our bathroom. I got another two three-cube sets that I made into two nightstands on either side of our bed. I didn't put the backs on these new cubes either, so I have six panels left over. It's really hard to slot the backs in the connectors and ours are up against the wall anyway, so it wasn't necessary.

I can get extra connectors and make an extra two cube shelf. Daiso has all kinds of accessories for them =D I'm just waiting for the day that we have room with a sloped ceiling so that I can line the wall with these cubes and have them fit perfectly. But that's another daydream.

Tangent: my Dad and I always laugh whenever anyone says "Daiso". It means The Big Stupid in Cantonese (大傻). XD

We have a whole wall of our bedroom lined with bookshelves. It's not full of books, but it's filling up quickly. A bedroom full of books from floor to ceiling is something I've always wanted but never had, so this just feels so cozy and right. It's so very me.

We're still donating books, packing up clothes for donations, packing up clothes to move, etc. We also need to figure out what we're selling, what we're giving away and what we need to put into storage.

The idea for the guest towel is brilliant!

=) I thought so too. The husband thinks it's a dumb idea.

Oh, how about a Scooba? Too much? It's probably hackable like the Roomba. ;->

Heehee... I can just hear the husband hollering at me, "NO MORE BUYING STUFF!!!" =D

I'm gonna get that SweepVac too. Last night, I was using the Swiffer WetJet as a broom, and picking up piles of crud using a spongecloth... not fun...

Ooo, would you be able to grab us one while you're at it? We'll be over at your place tonight for 湯圓 anyway =)

I hate the Swiffer WetJet. That's why I told Mom that you could have it if you want =D

If I go shopping I'll pick one up. But I'll be busy setting up my computers for the cable guy.
